Terms of Service

Effective: 2026 · Skratch Golf Inc.

We wrote these terms to be as clear and straightforward as possible. Please read them — they explain exactly how Skratch Golf works, what we promise, and what we ask of you.

1. About Skratch Golf

Skratch Golf Inc. ("Skratch Golf", "we", "us", "our") operates the Skratch Golf platform — a tee time booking service available at skratchgolf.ca and related applications.

Skratch Golf is a booking platform, not a payment processor. We connect golfers with golf courses and simulators across British Columbia, with expansion across Canada planned. Green fees are paid directly to the golf facility at the time of play — Skratch Golf does not process or collect green-fee payments.

Card on file for cancellation & no-show enforcement. To confirm a booking, golfers add a credit card via our payment partner Stripe. Skratch Golf will only charge this card if the golfer fails to respect the specific golf facility's posted cancellation or no-show policy — the exact same policy that course would apply if you booked by phone, in person, or through any other booking platform. Skratch Golf does not set these fees; we simply enforce the golf facility's own rules on its behalf.

We also send a notification system to help you avoid these fees (reminders, cancellation-window alerts). However, the golfer remains ultimately responsible for showing up to their booked tee time or cancelling in time — please respect the golf facility and your fellow golfers.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, completing a booking, or using any feature of Skratch Golf, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use Skratch Golf.

These Terms apply to all users of the platform, including:

  • Golfers — individuals searching for and booking tee times
  • Golf Facility operators — golf facilities and their representatives who list tee times on Skratch Golf

By checking the "I agree to Skratch Golf's Terms of Service" box at sign-up, you confirm you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms.

3. How Skratch Golf Works

For golfers: You search for available tee times, select a golf facility, choose a time slot, confirm your booking, and show up to play. You pay the golf facility directly — nothing is charged through Skratch Golf. Skratch Golf holds a reservation on your behalf.

For golf facility operators: You list your available tee times at your prices through the Skratch Golf dashboard. Golfers book through Skratch Golf, and you receive booking details. The golfer pays you directly at the golf facility. Skratch Golf facilitates the booking connection between the two parties.

Skratch Golf is not a party to the transaction between you and the golf facility. We are a platform that enables the connection.

4. Bookings & Tee Times

When you complete a booking on Skratch Golf:

  • Your tee time is reserved and held by the golf facility for you.
  • You will receive a booking confirmation by email.
  • Your booking details are accessible in your "My Rounds" page.
  • Tee times are subject to availability. Skratch Golf attempts to display real-time availability but cannot guarantee a specific slot until the booking is confirmed.
  • The golf facility has the right to cancel or reschedule a booking in exceptional circumstances (facility closure, weather, maintenance). In such cases, Skratch Golf will notify you as promptly as possible.

Tee time availability is shown in real time and refreshes automatically every 30 seconds. A tee time that is visible when you begin the booking process may no longer be available by the time you confirm. Skratch Golf is not liable for tee times lost to concurrent bookings.

5. Payments & Fees

Skratch Golf charges golfers $0 in booking fees. Always.

All green fees are paid directly to the golf facility at the time of your visit. Payment methods accepted are at the golf facility's sole discretion. Skratch Golf does not collect, hold, or process green fee payments on your behalf.

Card on file via Stripe. To confirm a booking, you add a credit card through our payment partner Stripe (Stripe Connect). Card data is stored and tokenised by Stripe — Skratch Golf never sees or stores raw card numbers. This card is used solely to enforce the golf facility's own cancellation and no-show policies. You will not be charged unless one of those policies is triggered, in which case the amount charged matches what the golf facility itself would charge you for the same violation.

For golf facility operators: Details of Skratch Golf's service arrangement with your course are outlined in your separate course partner agreement. These Terms do not constitute a pricing or commercial agreement.

6. Cancellation Policy

Cancellation policies are set and enforced by each individual golf facility — not by Skratch Golf. Each golf facility applies the same cancellation terms it would apply if you booked directly by phone, in person, or through any other site. We simply surface those terms to you on the booking confirmation screen so you know what to expect before you confirm.

This is why the cancellation window, fee, and refund rules can differ from one booking to the next: you are agreeing to that specific golf facility's policy when you book, the same as you would anywhere else.

Skratch Golf displays each golf facility's cancellation terms on the booking confirmation screen and in the golf facility listing.

General guidelines:

  • Most golf facilities require cancellation at least 24–48 hours before your tee time to avoid a fee.
  • Cancellations made within the golf facility's cancellation window may incur a fee charged by the golf facility (typically the full green fee).
  • Some golf facilities waive the fee if they are able to resell the tee time.
  • Northview Golf & CC charges 35% of the rack rate for late cancellations.
  • Furry Creek Golf & Country Club charges a flat $25/player for late cancellations.

To cancel a booking, go to My Rounds → Upcoming and tap "Cancel" before the cancellation window closes. Cancellations after the window are subject to the golf facility's fee.

Skratch Golf is not responsible for cancellation fees charged by the golf facility. These fees are set and enforced by each individual golf facility.

How late-cancellation fees are collected. When a golfer cancels after the golf facility's cancellation window, Skratch Golf charges the golf facility's posted late-cancellation fee to the card on file via Stripe, and remits the amount to the golf facility. Skratch Golf does not add a markup; the charge equals the golf facility's own fee.

7. No-Show Policy

No-show policies are set and enforced by each individual golf facility — not by Skratch Golf. Each golf facility applies the same no-show terms it would apply if you booked directly by phone, in person, or through any other site. We simply display those terms upfront so there are no surprises.

A "no-show" occurs when a golfer does not arrive for a booked tee time and has not cancelled within the applicable window.

No-show fee: Each golf facility sets its own no-show fee. The exact fee that will apply to your booking is displayed on the booking confirmation screen before you confirm.

The no-show fee is set and collected by the golf facility, not Skratch Golf. Skratch Golf flags the no-show in your booking history. Repeated no-shows may result in suspension of your Skratch Golf account.

If you cannot attend your tee time, please cancel in advance. This allows the golf facility to resell the slot and avoids fees for everyone.

How no-show fees are collected. When a golfer no-shows, Skratch Golf charges the golf facility's posted no-show fee to the card on file via Stripe and remits the amount to the golf facility. Skratch Golf does not set the fee or take a cut — the charge equals the golf facility's own fee, the same as if you had booked directly with the golf facility.

Reminders, not a substitute for showing up. Skratch Golf sends reminder notifications before your tee time and before the cancellation window closes. These are a courtesy to help you avoid fees — they don't shift responsibility. Showing up to a booked tee time (or cancelling in time) remains your responsibility.

8. User Accounts

To book a tee time on Skratch Golf, you must create a free account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information when creating your account.
  • Keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others.
  • Notify Skratch Golf immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
  • Be at least 18 years of age, or have obtained the consent of a parent or legal guardian prior to creating an account.

By creating an account, you confirm that you meet the age requirement above, or that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and consented to your use of Skratch Golf on your behalf. Skratch Golf relies on the truthfulness of this confirmation and is not responsible for any misrepresentation made by a user regarding their age or the existence of parental consent.

Fees apply regardless of age. Cancellation fees and no-show fees apply to all users, regardless of age. A booking made through Skratch Golf — whether by a minor or an adult — constitutes an obligation to the golf facility. The account holder, or where applicable the parent or legal guardian who consented to the account, is responsible for any fees incurred. Skratch Golf and the golf facility reserve the right to collect applicable fees from any user who fails to cancel within the required window or does not attend a confirmed tee time.

Skratch Golf reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or accumulate repeated no-shows.

9. Golf Facility Operators

Golf golf facilities listed on Skratch Golf agree to:

  • Honour all bookings made through Skratch Golf at the listed price.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date tee time availability.
  • Clearly communicate their cancellation and no-show policies to Skratch Golf for display to golfers.
  • Treat Skratch Golf golfers with the same standard of service as direct bookings.
  • Notify Skratch Golf as soon as possible of any facility closures, temporary suspensions, or changes affecting bookings.

Skratch Golf reserves the right to remove a golf facility from the platform if it fails to meet these obligations, engages in discriminatory conduct toward golfers, or is found to have misrepresented its availability or pricing.

10. Ratings & Reviews

Star ratings displayed on golf facility listings are sourced from Google Maps and are Google's property. They are not created by, owned by, or endorsed by Skratch Golf Inc.

Clicking a rating on Skratch Golf opens the golf facility's Google Maps listing directly. Skratch Golf does not edit, moderate, or vouch for the accuracy of Google reviews.

11. Weather Information

Weather data shown on Skratch Golf is sourced from Open-Meteo, a third-party weather provider. Skratch Golf provides forecasts for informational purposes only.

  • Forecasts are available for up to 16 days. Beyond 16 days, no forecast is shown.
  • Weather conditions can change rapidly. Always verify conditions before your round.
  • Skratch Golf makes no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of weather information.
  • Skratch Golf shall not be held liable for losses, inconveniences, or damages resulting from reliance on weather data displayed on this platform.

12. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Make bookings you do not intend to honour.
  • Use Skratch Golf for any fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to circumvent Skratch Golf's booking system or resell tee times.
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against golf facility staff or other users.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scraping tools on the platform.

Violations may result in account suspension and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement.

13. Limitation of Liability

Skratch Golf is a booking facilitation platform. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Skratch Golf is not liable for the quality, safety, or condition of any golf facility.
  • Skratch Golf is not responsible for facility cancellations, closures, or changes beyond our control.
  • Skratch Golf's total liability to any user shall not exceed $100 CAD.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by Skratch Golf's negligence, to the extent such exclusion is not permitted by law.

14. Location Data & Mobile Permissions

Skratch Golf is a location-aware service. To show you golf facilities near you and surface tee times in your region, we may request access to your device's location.

When we ask for permission:

  • The first time you open the Skratch Golf mobile app — including as a guest, before you create an account — we ask whether Skratch Golf can use your device's location.
  • You can change your decision at any time in your phone's Settings app: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Skratch Golf on iOS, or Settings → Apps → Skratch Golf → Permissions → Location on Android.

What we collect when you grant permission:

  • Your approximate latitude and longitude at the moment you tap "Use my location" or open the app with location permission already granted.
  • The first three characters of your postal code (the "Forward Sortation Area" — e.g. V6C) so we can match you to a region. Skratch Golf does not store your full postal code or street address.
  • Approximately every 30 minutes — and only while you are actively using the app — we may silently refresh your location so the "golf facilities near me" list stays up to date as you move. We never collect location while the app is closed or in the background.

What we use it for:

  • Sorting golf facilities by driving distance from your current position.
  • Filtering tee times by distance radius (10 km / 25 km / 50 km / 100 km / Any).
  • Pre-selecting your closest BC region (Greater Vancouver, Whistler, Vancouver Island, etc.).
  • Showing accurate weather for the region you are searching in.

What we do NOT do with your location:

  • We do not sell, rent, or share your location data with advertisers, marketers, data brokers, or any third party.
  • We do not retain a history of where you have been. Each location read is used to populate the current search session and is discarded when you close the app.
  • We do not request "Always Allow" location access. Skratch Golf only ever requests "While Using the App" permission.
  • We do not track your location for advertising purposes. Skratch Golf does not show third-party advertising of any kind.

Using Skratch Golf without granting location:

  • Skratch Golf works without location permission. You can always type a city name (e.g. "Kelowna") or a postal code (e.g. "V6B") into the search bar instead.
  • Some convenience features — "golf facilities near me", distance sorting, automatic region detection — will be unavailable until you grant permission. You can grant it later from the in-app prompt or from your device Settings.

Other mobile permissions we may request:

  • Notifications — only if you choose to set up tee time alerts or want booking reminders. Optional. See Section 15 below.
  • Camera, Photos, Contacts, Microphone, Health — Skratch Golf does not request any of these permissions today. If that ever changes, we will update this section first.

How your device determines its location: on iOS we use Apple's Core Location framework; on Android we use the Google Play Services Fused Location Provider. Both use a combination of GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular signals. These services are subject to Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies, which Skratch Golf does not control.

15. Notifications & Alerts

Skratch Golf can send you push notifications and email notifications about:

  • Tee time alerts you have set up — when a slot matching your saved filters becomes available.
  • Booking confirmations and reminders for tee times you have booked.
  • Important changes to your booking (facility closure, weather hold, etc.).
  • Occasional product updates if you have opted in.

Granting permission: the first time you set up an alert, the app asks for permission to send notifications. You can grant or revoke this at any time in your device Settings.

Email notifications are sent through Resend, our transactional email provider. We use Resend only for messages you have asked to receive (booking confirmations, alert matches, account verification). We do not send marketing email without your explicit opt-in.

Push notifications are delivered through Apple's Push Notification Service (APNs) on iOS and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) on Android. Skratch Golf does not control these networks; they are subject to Apple's and Google's privacy policies.

16. Cookies & Analytics

Skratch Golf's use of cookies and similar storage technologies is governed by our Cookie Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Cookie Policy is the definitive list of every cookie we use and explains how to change your preferences at any time.

Short summary:

  • Essential cookies (always on) — authentication tokens that keep you signed in, and a short-lived identifier that holds your tee time selection while you book. The platform cannot operate without these.
  • Analytics cookies (opt-in only) — PostHog collects anonymous, aggregated usage statistics so we can make Skratch Golf better. IP addresses are scrubbed. PostHog loads only after you accept it on the cookie banner.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site trackers. We do not sell or share cookie data with marketers or data brokers.

You can change your cookie choices at any time on the Cookie Policy page, or withdraw consent entirely by emailing info@skratchgolf.ca.

17. Privacy & Data Handling

Skratch Golf collects only the data we need to operate the booking service. The categories below summarize everything we hold about you.

Data we collect from account holders:

  • Name and email address — required to create an account and receive booking confirmations.
  • Phone number — optional, used for SMS booking reminders if you opt in.
  • Handicap index — optional, used only on your "My Rounds" page.
  • Booking history — date, golf facility, players, total price.
  • Saved buddies — names and emails of golfers you book together with, only if you choose to add them.
  • Saved tee time alerts and preferred region.

Data we collect from guests (no account):

  • Approximate location, only if you grant permission (see Section 14).
  • Anonymous usage analytics (see Section 16).
  • Nothing else. We do not assign you a persistent identifier or build a profile across sessions.

Where your data lives:

  • Account data, bookings, and alerts are stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL hosted in Canada / North America).
  • Push tokens are stored in the same database, encrypted at rest.
  • Email is sent through Resend; emails are retained by Resend for a limited delivery window then purged.

What we never do:

  • We do not sell your personal data — to anyone, ever.
  • We do not share your information with marketers, data brokers, advertisers, or third-party trackers.
  • We do not share your data with the golf facility beyond what is necessary to complete a booking (your name, email, party size, tee time).

How long we keep it: account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Booking records are kept for up to 7 years for tax and dispute-resolution purposes. You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by emailing info@skratchgolf.ca; we will action the request within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

Your rights: as a Canadian resident under PIPEDA (and a BC resident under PIPA), you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, and to request its deletion. Contact us at info@skratchgolf.ca to exercise any of these rights.

18. Amendments

Skratch Golf may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the effective date at the top of this page.
  • Notify registered users by email or in-app notification.

Your continued use of Skratch Golf after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
